The index shows to what extent Swedish companies pays their invoices in time and how that is developing over time. The index is based on over 1.5 million invoices from Swedish companies. Thousands of invoices are added monthly to the data. The index value is based on a 10 month moving average. The distribution of company sizes is 0-9 employees (44,5%), 10-49 (24,6%), 50-249 (15,8%) and 250+ (15,0%). The companies' size is based on reported number of employees to Bolagsverket.

Payment Time Index 2022 confirms significant improvement towards quicker payment times

(published 2/7/2023)

The yearly Payment Time Index for 2022 can confirm a trend break in the payment times of Swedish companies. Large companies (>250 employees) have improved at paying on time over the year, while the smallest companies continue to be the very best at paying on time. A general trend shows that all company sizes have improved their payment times in 2022.

Steel- and metal industry much better at paying on time

(published 15-11-2022)

From having been the industry with the worst actual payment times this year, a remarkable improvement can be noticed in only a short time. An industry in stabilisation, despite difficult times.

The first industry comparison from this summer indicated that the steel- and metal field was the very latest to pay on time and on average each invoice was paid 4,3 days late. The new, updated index shows a much better result though over the last six months. Swedish companies within the steel- and metal industry have improved a great deal on actual payment times over the last three months, compared to the previous index.

Late payments more common by larger companies in August

(published 8/24/2022)

Payment Time Index™ shows that larger companies make their payments even later in August. On average each invoice from large companies in Sweden is paid 3,5 days late, which can have a big negative impact on small and medium-sized companies. And the trend is consistent yearly as of 2016, when the index started.

Larger companies, with more than 250 employees, are constantly late with payments all months of the year. But in August each year they are even later, increasing relatively with 143% to the yearly average, the index shows.
